Ephemeral (2023)

‘Ephemeral’ is an interactive virtual experience made in Unity based on childhood memories. The player is encouraged to explore different bedroom environments corresponding to different stages of life from ages 0-25. They can interact with various objects representing memories collected from people’s submissions via Instagram stories. Rather than a single narrative to follow as the game progresses, the resulting experience is a non-linear virtual exhibition of many people’s formative memories. The aim is to resonate with the audience by creating a sense of connection and relatability in nostalgia.

Filling in the Spaces (2024)

‘Filling in the Spaces’ is an autobiographical narrative adventure video game combining memories and imagined spaces in a virtual world that represents the real life experiences of Nyah Sukhabut on her journey of self-acceptance and growing up. Players must navigate immersive spaces from the perspective of both an older and younger version of the character across 3 main levels: The House, The City, and The Dream. The exploratory gameplay and interactive puzzles invite players to intimately delve into the intangible aspects of her psyche through objects in her real-life memory box and surreal reimaginings of the different places she has lived. The original game soundtrack features new arrangements of songs from the EP of the same name released in 2021 by nyah rylie and her brother, dylan liam. Made in Unreal Engine.
